About Us The Smiling Grape Company is an independent family owned wine merchant based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. We offer a very special retail experience where not only can you buy wines from all over the world (which you can’t find in supermarkets) but we have a fresh and original way to shop for wine, making it easy to find the "simply the perfect wine for any occasion".
“Wine should be a celebration of life” and we have created a novel way so that everyone who enters The Smiling Grape Company can simply follow our carefully planned system and have the perfect wine for any occasion or mood. When shopping with us you can choose wine by country, grape or price. But you can also choose wine by flavour, by the food you wish it to accompany or even select a wine to match with a movie or music. It’s that simple.
Meet The Team
 Matt Ellis, Managing Partner
After leaving university Matt enjoyed a varied career in sales, marketing, charity fundraising and producing for the British movie industry which included attempting to turn Hartlepool into the fictional town of Wombatville. It was after an afternoon of auditioning Roly Poly dancers gyrating to Gazza’s “Fog On The Tyne” that Matt decided it was time to turn his passion of wine into a career. After working for two well-respected wine merchants Matt wanted to take wine retail to the next level and The Smiling Grape Company opened its doors in 2008.
